The Climate Service Center Germany (GERICS) was initiated by the German Federal Government in 2009 as a fundamental part of the German high-tech-strategy for climate protection. GERICS offers in a scientifically sound manner products, advisory services and decision-relevant information in order to support government, administration and business in their efforts to adapt to climate change. This takes account of the rapidly growing need for advice on climate issues and closes the gap between science and practice.
HZG-GERICS contributes with its extraordinary expertise in the following areas relevant to the project:
- Regional climate modelling and model development
- Expertise in inter- and transdisciplinary work and, thus, mutual transfer of knowledge and information between science and practice (administrations, politics, economy and other social actors)
- Providing local climate information with a strong focus on urban adaptation
- Development of products / services and support offers for and with decision-makers
